Request to update links on main site

#1 Post by BitterTruth »

Whilst trying to repair a borked system yesterday, I noticed that parts of the site is outdated. Other bits are hard to find. Google results are also from 2019/20 or earlier.
I had to spend a long time looking for information on mirrors. Was quite difficult to find. Took me almost half an hour to get the information I needed. Some of the links are outdated on the main site especially information on repos. MX23 is missing altogether from these, for example:

https://mxlinux.org/wiki/system/repos-mx-linux/
https://mxrepo.com/

missing mirrors (404 errors):

https://mirror.one.com/mx-isos/MX/Snapshots/
https://mirrors.ircam.fr/pub/mx/isos/MX/Snapshots/

There's probably more but I just thought I'd give you all a headsup. PLEASE DON'T TAKE THIS AS A CRITICISM OF ANYBODY.

I also noticed there are quite a few spam reviews on the distrowatch site.

Thanks. We haven't added the MX-23 info everywhere yet--so this is a good reminder. @timkb4cq

On the missing mirrors: in general, we don't control those mirrors and can't really do anything about problems that arise, except delete them from our lists when we confirm that they are offline. We recommend you just use Repo Manager to switch to another one, or to one of the MX mirrors. Those two mirrors are fine, BTW, they just have elected to not include the Snapshots directory.
Production: 5.10, MX-23 Xfce, AMD FX-4130 Quad-Core, GeForce GT 630/PCIe/SSE2, 16 GB, SSD 120 GB, Data 1TB
Personal: Lenovo X1 Carbon with MX-23 Fluxbox and Windows 10
Other: Raspberry Pi 5 with MX-23 Xfce Raspberry Pi Respin

Couldn't. System was borked. Kernel and initramfs was corrupted. I was chrooted in and apt was giving me errors about mirrors and stuff. I had to add them manually. Those particular ones were are probably for isos whereas i needed ones for packages. You can't really find them on the site either. I found the links through Google
