There is no choice of the desired display resolution

#1 Post by megaherz33 »

It is not possible to select a resolution of 1440x900, a maximum of 1024x768. Why is that? There were no problems before.

Thank you!

We need your computer’s complete profile before we can diagnose a problem like this, so you need to post the output from the QSI utility. The Quick System Info (QSI) utility is located in MX Tools and its output is automatically formatted for use here in the forum. Run the QSI utility, click “Copy for Forum” at the bottom and then just paste it here in your thread.
Per Forum Rules
HP 15; ryzen 3 5300U APU; 500 Gb SSD; 8GB ram
Aspire V5-571; CPU Intel I3; 500 GB SSD; Intel 2nd Gen Graphics; 8 GB Ram
Aspire XC-866; i3-9100; UHD 630; 8 GB ram; 1TB HDD

In Linux, newer isn't always better. The best solution is the one that works.

Works fine on a 2005 laptop. And on the old PC, this problem appeared. On HP 2011 release, there are no problems either.

I suggest that you use MXPI to install the Antix 4.19 kernel because it seems that the VGA driver in your current kernel has been downgraded to just the base VGA capabilities. After you have installed the 4.19 kernel and rebooted, select Advanced Options on the Grub screen and then choose the 4.19 kernel as the boot choice. If this solves your resolution problem, you can make it permanent with the Boot Options utility in MX Tools.

Code: Select all

sudo rm /etc/X11/xorg.conf
If it doesn't say "no such file or directory" (if no outputs) just reboot.

With "before" do you mean MX19 or 21 ?

driver: loaded: intel unloaded: fbdev,modesetting

Did you do that manually (created an intel.conf or used "MX Tweak") ?

Does it load modesetting on a (MX-21.3) live usb? And/or how is it there?
