Live USB do not boot, HELP!

#1 Post by neogeo »

Hello.
I've downloaded many copies of the latest MX KDE, but none of the Live USBs work completely.
I've used various tools to create Live USB, but they don't work.
I start the GRUB installation menu, but when I click on the option to start MX Live USB, then Live starts to start with some colored letters/words and after 2-3 seconds the monitor screen turns black and the monitor LED starts flashing and it happens regardless the way i do installation USB. It only works on Virtual Box and that's it.
Can anyone HELP me to make Live USB usable for installing latest MX KDE?
TNKS

I am using integrated Intel UHD-630 graphics (I don't have another and Intel i3-10100 CPU).

All other Live USB distros i am preparing works like a charm and without any problem and i can boot Live USB for installation. . .

You can try

Code: Select all

i915.invert_brightness=1
as boot parameter. You can also find it in options on the welcome screen (but since Uefi & Bios screens are different they're in different places) .. shortly, (to reply quick) assuming it's uefi: press E on welcome screen, then type this after ... quiet splash splasht ...

press F10 to go on boot.

... Or: "Advanced Options" => "Boot Options" : i915_invert

on Bios screen: F4 : i915_invert

There it is.

Also, does it boot on any other pc?

In the meantime, you can try AHS version (just to see what happens at least) (though KDE is also AHS) for it has a more recent kernel (5.17) by default.

P.S. Assuming you already disabled "Secure Boot" in Bios settings.

What is the make and complete model name of the target laptop?

What brand(s) of USB thumb drive are you using?
HP 15; ryzen 3 5300U APU; 500 Gb SSD; 8GB ram
Aspire V5-571; CPU Intel I3; 500 GB SSD; Intel 2nd Gen Graphics; 8 GB Ram
Aspire XC-866; i3-9100; UHD 630; 8 GB ram; 1TB HDD

In Linux, newer isn't always better. The best solution is the one that works.

an “Advanced Hardware Support” release for very recent hardware, with 5.16 kernel and newer graphics drivers and firmware. 64 bit only. Works for all users, but especially if you use AMD Ryzen, AMD Radeon RX graphics, or 9th/10th/11th generation Intel hardware.
( 5.17 now) :)

Hi.
It's not a laptop. It's a Desktop PC with Intel i3-10100 and UHD-630 integrated graphics.
I have try Apacer 8GB USB2.1 and SanDisk 32GB USB3.1 USB Flash dives. And all of them failed.
