Unofficial Xfce respin iso has been updated

#1 Post by user-green »

Hello,

I have just made an unofficial Xfce version of MX-Respin, for main use in Japanese.
Please test and try, if you are interested in it.

Updated:
You can down load MX-respin-ja_x64.iso from
https:// linux.sakura.ne.jp/mxlinux-iso/index.html
(applied minimal-iso, and due to hosting server limit)
You can down load MX Respin x64 with Japanese IME at
https:// linux.sakura.ne.jp/mx-respin-iso/xfce-minimal-ja/
updated as:

Xfce full version:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/flora-linux/

Xfce core version:
sourceforge.net/projects/mx-respin-iso/files/xfce/
https://sourceforge.net/projects/mx-respin-xfce/
or
https://linux.sakura.ne.jp/mx-respin-iso/xfce/

Updated: Respins are also available from here:
Re-spins are also available from below but might be outdated:
https://linux.sakura.ne.jp/flora-linux/

Re-spins are also archived at https://archive.org/details/@usergreen

Thank you.
This respin is suitable for Japanese, but also usable in default English environment.
In order to enable Japanese input, just click a tool bar at the bottom on the right corner, then select an item "Anthy" or "Mozc".
How to switch to Japanese input? It is very simple. Press Shift + Space key.

Please let me know what you have changed or added as the Japanese version.

I ran it on LivefromUSB.
Why isn't fcitx used for Japanese input?
I can't enable (Kana) from the mozc settings, and it's a hassle to switch to Kana input from the toolbar every time I start the browser.

Thank you, Toku-san

There are many kinds of Japanese inputs. Among them, Debian has been adopting uim, anthy and mozc as its default for a long time, and is very stable and less trouble in use. This is why I adopted this respin, too. Installing many similar input methods is not appropriate as it might cause conflicting troubles. I hear that fcitx sometimes caused troubles during Japanese input in the past.

But it is also possible to add fcitx to mx-respin as well.

To Toku-san

>Please let me know what you have changed or added as the Japanese version.

I add the followings from the command line:
root@mx1:/home/demo# apt install anthy uim-anthy uim uim-mozc im-config zenity kasumi uim-gtk2.0 uim-gtk3 uim-qt5

Please also see the past posting at
https://forum.mxlinux.org/viewtopic.php ... 96#p567796
which tells the easiest way to add fcitx using mouse.

Here comes a new release of Xfce Desktop with core applications! It is a respin from MX-21.1_minimal_x64.iso.
See the source: https://sourceforge.net/projects/mx-lin ... X-Minimal/
Now, ISO size has reduced from the previous 2.9GB to 1.7 GB.

In this version, Synaptic Package Manager, and besides, Japanese IME was added, so that you might input Japanese in almost any locales.
You can download this respin at https:// linux.sakura.ne.jp/mx-respin-iso/xfce-minimal-ja/
https://linux.sakura.ne.jp/mx-respin-iso/xfce-japanese/ (note: URL has changed afterwards)

Thank you.
