I prefer fehlix's suggestion. This is optically the better solution since the line length is much shorter and contains fewer lines. I worked with the flat menu's. After removing the tick in MX boot options with a subsequent grub update, the additional display in the BELOW distros was omitted - presumably because the file etc/lsb-release does not work with it.
