Two XFCE plugins depending on older xfce4-panel version

#1 Post by radonrose »

Code: Select all

Reading package lists...
Building dependency tree...
Reading state information...
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
 xfce4-equake-plugin : Depends: xfce4-panel (< 4.13) but 4.14.1-1~mx19+1 is to be installed
 xfce4-notes-plugin : Depends: xfce4-panel (< 4.13) but 4.14.1-1~mx19+1 is to be installed
E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.
Just leaving this here. Was going to install all the xfce4-plugins because I couldn't find many interesting articles describing and suggesting some. Don't really think I'd have a use for these plugins, so don't consider this a request for help or update.

I verified that these plugins, which come from Debian's repo not MX's, do depend on xfce4-panel being 4.13 or below. Debian Buster ships with Xfce 4.12. These plugins are incompatible with MX's Xfce version 4.14. Incidentally they'll both will be removed from Debian Bullseye, probably because they're no longer maintained or updated. As the packages come from Debian upstream there's nothing the MX packagers can do about it.
