Forum Images - Sizing for posts

#1 Post by richb »

Image Posting Tip

The Forum limits image sizes as rendered on Forum posts to 640X620 pixel size and an image file size of 300 KB. When using the attachment function at the bottom of posts, if the image size is 300 KB or below the forum software will create a thumbnail of the image and when clicked on will bring up the full size image. The thumbnail will meet the pixel image size limitation.

If the image you intend to post is greater than 300i KB you can easily reduce the file size using Nomacs, the image handler that is installed by default in MX 18 and MX 19 releases and point releases.

The steps to accomplish this are:

1. Open the image in Nomacs.
2. From the menu bar click on File and then Save for Web
3. The Save File dialog will pop up. Give the file a different name if you want to retain the larger image on your file system.
4. Click on Save. A window will pop up and you can choose the image size. It also shows the resulting file size. Ensure it is below 300KB

The resulting file will be saved as a jpg and under the required Forum posting limit if you have ensured the choice in the dialog resulted in one below the 300KB limit
