Canon MX492

#1

Post by BrunoCGL » Mon Jan 14, 2019 3:41 pm

Newbie here but I need to setup a Canon MX 492 wireless printer.
Under printer settings it shows the printer but when its setup and trying to print a test page, it cannot contact the printer.
What am I missing?

Thanks,

Bruno

It is possible that installing ijsgutenprint may allow the driver to work (Canon MX-492 "speaks" ijs) but it's more likely you will need to install the driver from Canon
https://www.usa.canon.com/internet/port ... ds-drivers
You will have to move the dropdown from Linux 64bit (detected) to Linux before it will show the files.
You will want the two marked debian Packagearchive - one for printing, one for scanning.
Once you have downloaded and extracted those downloads (they're compressed archives) you will go the the packages folder in each and install either the i386 or amd64 deb (depending on whether you are running 32bit or 64bit) with Gdebi (clicking on the deb in the File manager should bring up gdebi).
MSI 970A-G43 MB, AMD FX-6300 (six core), 16GB RAM, GeForce 730, Samsung 850 EVO 250GB SSD, Seagate Barracuda XT 3TB
