My keyboard set up was totally wrong

#1

Post by cjos » Sat Jan 12, 2019 9:38 am

After installing the MX 18 OS, I discovered that my keyboard set up was totally wrong, and it all looked like the German enigma coding machine! I then had to reinstall the OS to get passwords etc back.

As soon as this was done, I tried to change my password to something I could remember, and to make a comment on the forum about the problem, but with no success. Our kindly Administrator gave me a temporary password to get me back on the Forum.

Can anybody else think of another way out of this problem?

Did you select a keyboard in the installer? or otherwise set up a keyboard?

Is so, what did you choose?
http://www.youtube.com/runwiththedolphin
lenovo ThinkPad T530 - MX-18
lenovo s21e - MX-18, antiX-17.3.1 (live-USB)
FYI: mx "test" repo is not the same thing as debian testing repo.

Thank you, yes I did, but I also noticed that selected items move around after selecting, and I had to go back a number of times, and in the Tools keyboard selection also. A bit wobbly?

Logout and
select keyboard-layout on the upper right corner of the logon-screen:
logon-select-1.png
You might add also add onscreen-keyboard display:
logon-select-2.png
So you can check thy keyboard layout visually:

Gosh, very comprehensive. You are a star, thank you that is most helpful. Just one character wrong at the moment, which is the exclamation marks shared on 2 key which comes out as @. (same as my Mac keyboard).

Hello again,
I am probably in one of my senior moments, but the top right corner of my LOG IN screen says "Login Register
MX HOME • DONATE • WIKI • MANUALS • SUPPORT • BUGS • GIT. Should I be looking deeper into one of these.
