Heimdall error

#1 Post by kultex »

==============================================================

EDIT: Heimdall works only in SYSTEMD Modehe

if you want to use it via USB Stick you can use the Clonezilla version of my MX-Respin https://community.e.foundation/t/bootab ... ools/47138

==============================================================

I try to flash my Samsung S III i9300 with heimdall, but getting this error - does not matter if I flash it as user or as root:

Code: Select all

root@mx1:/media/demo/JetDrive Go/i9300# heimdall flash --RECOVERY twrp-3.7.0_9-0-i9300.img  --no-reboot
Heimdall v1.4.2

Code: Select all

$ lsusb

lsusb shows it as S II - i9100 ?? - I use the fluxbox version

The software error shows it trying to access a device on bus 1, device #14. The output of the lsusb command output shows your phone at device #15.

One would expect an error trying to open a non-existing device.

this is an error of the LIVE USB version - installed everything is fine

I have 2 versions of my MX-Flashing Tools Respin - one normal version and one with snaps - here the respin is installed on the stick and it works

https://community.e.foundation/t/bootab ... ools/47138

it would be cool, to get it also working on the normal ISO - maybe somebody has an idea

Explored it a little bit more:

1) The different device number comes from trying to flash - after each try, the usb device is renumbered to the next number

2) it does also not work on the installed version - here "heimdall print-pid" is working, but when I really want to flash, there is the bus error - see below

Code: Select all

tomse@mx:~/Android/i9300
$ heimdall flash -RECOVERY twrp-3.7.0_9-0-i9300.img
