Checking ISO integrity with MD5 file  [Solved]

#1 Post by Falcon »

i just downloaded the MX-21.3 ISO and the corresponding MD5 file to be used to check the integrity of the downloaded ISO file. Unfortunately, I don't remember how to make use of the MD5 file. Can someone please refresh my memory on this. I'll be sure to make a note of it for the future.

You can use "GtkHash" from menu, (select iso, click "Hash")

or right-click on iso : "Properties" - "Digests" tab...

(You can also paste the key in the txt file into "Check" box (then click "Hash") to make it checked automatically)

Or.. "Open Terminal Here" (where the iso is) then

md5sum isofile'sname

Then compare with the one in the txt file ...

Thanks for the quick response. I ran the check and the ISO is good to use.

In the past, I was told to click the check mark on the first post, but I'll do it your way in the future.

Don't blindly click Huck's posts ;)

Click the mark on the post that holds the solution. When someone clicks on the SOLVED word they'll get taken straight to that post.

That was before this feature, when you had to "edit the title" (hence the 1st post only)... :)

One more easy way ... Assuming the ISO and the MD5 are in the same directory of Thunar, right click on the MD5 file, select "Check data integrity", and wait awhile for the Yes/No answer.
