qjackctl dialogue window too big, can't resize

#1 Post by babythem »

Using AVL MX-21 64-bit with Debian GNU/Linux 11 (bullseye) and Xfce 4.16.3. I'm having an issue with the qjackctl (v0.9.6 with Qt 5.15.2) JACK client's GUI: one of the dialog windows ("Setup") won't resize properly beyond a certain point. Unfortunately the minimum size is way too big for my desktop. (See screenshot.) I can resize it to be bigger than this, but not smaller. The rest of the dialogs work fine and can be resized reasonably.

The above shows the minimum size I can get the window, both in height and width, whether I drag using bottom-right corner resize area, or whether I use alt+rightclick and drag method. I was wondering if the problem could be sorted out on my window manager / display end, since I've tried addressing the problem internally via the GUI preferences.

Also, For my graphics, inxi -G gives me the following output, incase that's relevant.

Code: Select all

$ inxi -G
Graphics:
  Device-1: Intel HD Graphics 620 driver: i915 v: kernel
Device-2: Realtek Integrated Webcam HD type: USB
  driver: uvcvideo
Display: x11 server: X.Org 1.20.14 driver: loaded: modesetting
  unloaded: fbdev,vesa resolution: 1920x1080~60Hz
OpenGL: renderer: Mesa Intel HD Graphics 620 (KBL GT2)
  v: 4.6 Mesa 22.0.5
Thanks, appreciate the help!

I see there are two versions available for MX-21:

Code: Select all

apt policy qjackctl
qjackctl:
  Installed: (none)
  Candidate: 0.9.6-1~mx21+1
  Version table:
     0.9.6-1~mx21+1 500
        500 http://mxrepo.com/mx/repo bullseye/main amd64 Packages
     0.9.1-1 500
        500 http://deb.debian.org/debian bullseye/main amd64 Packages
--which one are you using?
--if the newer one, did it also happen with the previous version?
Production: 5.10, MX-23 Xfce, AMD FX-4130 Quad-Core, GeForce GT 630/PCIe/SSE2, 16 GB, SSD 120 GB, Data 1TB
Personal: Lenovo X1 Carbon with MX-23 Fluxbox and Windows 10
Other: Raspberry Pi 5 with MX-23 Xfce Raspberry Pi Respin

I was using the newer (0.9.6) one, but I just removed and installed the older (0.9.1) one and the problem persists. (So I've gone back to the newer one.) I was having some qjackctl issues and had to upgrade/reinstall a few days ago, prior to that I don't recall this being an issue...

Hi,

Wow that's weird, definitely not normal!

I suggest backing up your existing ~/.config/rncbc.org/QjackCtl.conf file, delete the original and then re-run Qjackctl to create a new config file..

*Note this will also erase some important AV Linux specific configuration but you can reset that afterward to the same values in this screenshot:

Yay, that worked! Thanks :) Now we have a reasonably sized window.

For reference, here's the original Qjackctl.conf file, maybe it'll help diagnose where exactly the issue was?
