Download windscribe-cli_1.4-51_amd64.deb and install it. You do not need to do anything to your system, just use the terminal.

Once installed and connected it will be there on a reboot even if disconnected from the VPN on shutdown. Just connect again and it will start and switch to the VPN.
Thanks, What exactly do I install? I don't see it. Also I guess since I had previously tried to install the GUI, it seems to be getting confused when I run "sudo systemctl start windscribe" as it says systemd isn't available, so I'll probably need to reinstall the OS, this one is only 3 days old so it's not a big deal.

Just click on that version number and it should bring up a download page. Where ever you saved it just right click on it and 'Install Deb Files'. In a terminal just 'windscribe'.

Thank you, that's what I did. My system is probably screwed as it refuses to treat it like a .deb package even though 'is executable' is selected. It just opens it with Ark.

Look at this screenshot. Windscribe deb is highlighted in blue and what you need to click on is also blue. That should install it. Then in a terminal just enter 'windscribe connect' it should ask you enter you code etc.

Thanks, that's what I'm doing. Other .deb files install flawlessly, but not this one. I believe it's because I tried to install the GUI before and it has left something in my system. I can't even uninstall it. I really do believe that somewhere in the past 3 days I broke the system.

OK, lets try something before you reinstall your system. I would like you to reboot you system but boot to systemD. Once booted to systemD you need to open Synaptic, Find windscribe and right click and mark it for 'Mark for Complete Removal' apply. Once removed close Synaptic and reboot to your normal system.

Now see if you can install the deb you downloaded. I have had to do it this way before. I may not be log-in here all the time but will be checking every so often to help.

For future reference:

I reinstalled MX KDE21 and I have windscribe working. However, FYI the legacy windscribe CLI doesn't allow wireguard, so If the MX Team can make the latest GUI work on MX without systemd that would allow for wireguard.

... made some progress to tweak their provided installer to make it install and run in SysVinit:

what probably will not work is the feature they offer to update/upgrade from
within the windscribe gui itself. So in case a new version is offered, best do run
the ReInstall from MX Package Installer -> Populare Apps -> Network -> Windscribe
Also some tests have been made to "fix" an unsuccessfully made installation attempt,
when manually downloading and trying to install deb from their website.
It should install and run in both SysVinit and SystemD, when installed from with MXPI->Pop.Apps.
May send it up to the repos, probably later today... :snail:
