MXFBPi Beta 2 testing

#1 Post by Jerry3904 »

Here is the patch:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1D-zICD ... sp=sharing

61c86a88c000e2408c94d6ba7f8a0fb7 MXFBPi_B2.patch

Download the patch where the original image is, then open a terminal and issue this command:

Code: Select all

xdelta3 -d -s MX-19.3_FluxRPi-respin_B1.img  MXFBPi_B2.patch MXFBPi_B2.img
=================
AGENDA

Lost causes?
--Plymouth
--bluetooth (losing service when logging out/in, requiring rebooting)

Big causes
--how fragile are some of the changes against upstream changes in mx-fluxbox, etc.?
--full Palemoon testing: should it replace Firefox ESR, what setup does it need (links on the toolbar, for example), any extensions OOTB such as an ad-blocker, etc.?
--the group of conkies that have been reported not to work: need testing and fixing, or removal (?). I'll post that list below when I find it again.
--update and testing of skel (not sure all of my recent changes are there, especially in little places like the clipit rc)
--volumeicon: I think the scroll/volume is working again
--finalize documentation (Chris posted a soundfix document >> Bookshelf)
--final review of components: anything we don't need, anything important missing?

Little causes
--not sure ATM

=================

If anyone posts other causes, I'll add to the list.

I don't have mx-fluxbox_raspberrypi_respin_beta.img
I have MX-19.3_FluxRPi-respin_B1.img

OK, then use that name instead. I forgot I changed the name when I uploaded it to SourceForge.

Changed the command, thanks.

I ran the command as I posted it first, and it produced no error so I concluded we were good to go. Maybe the name change altered the checksum?

I'll download the B1 as it is and try it again...and this time I'll also do a md5sum.

Sigh.

OK, recreated the patch and took a md5sum. Posted that in OP and I hope it works this time--did here with original download this time.

@Jerry3904
I must be an idiot today. I still can't get it.
Can you just make the image over again and have a link to that also?
I don't know how to patch from that small image to the original anyway.

I could, but it takes a lot of time so it won't happen today.

Which part is not clear to you?

1) put the patch and the original in the same folder
2) right-click a blank space in the folder > Open terminal here
3) paste in the code in OP and wait
4) when it is finished, you should see the new *img file.
5) Use Imager to load it onto a microSD

I don't think MAYBL8 has the original image. @MAYBL8 you will need the same image jerry is starting with to do the patch.

the file in the archive on the sourceforge download, which is linked in the blog post, is mx-fluxbox_raspberrypi_respin_beta

so Jerry's original command will be correct. these xdelta3 patches don't care about filenames, but the patches do have to match the original files.

FYI: mx "test" repo is not the same thing as debian testing repo.
