Upload a hardware probe of your machine to a online database?
Upload a hardware probe of your machine to a online database?
I just did with the MSI. I went with the Debian section, since they don't have one for MX:

You can get a "hw-probe" deb package from the releases here ( I installed the recommended packages of mcelog, edid-decode, memtester, pnputils, sysstat, upower, fdisk, alsa-utils, cpuid, ethtool, i2c-tools, wireless-tools, iw, vainfo, vdpauinfo, vulkan-utils, x11-xserver-utils, xinput) :

Instructions for use are here in the Readme:

Sounds far too complicated, why not just use inxi -F in a terminal? That way your computer's data is not stored on a public database which could be made available to potential hackers.

There's really nothing there I'm not comfortable sharing with the world. The hackers can see what dkms packages I have installed--I don't mind.turtlebay777 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 26, 2018 7:40 pm Sounds far too complicated, why not just use inxi -F in a terminal? It also provides a service for others looking for a fully MX compatible machine, or if they have one picked out and want to see if anyone else has MX running well on it.
Re: Upload a hardware probe of your machine to a online database?
The list of distros you can search for does not include MX.
Here is the page with the distribution search: https://linux-hardware.org/
Not much use for people looking for MX installations.

1) To save the data in structured form and have good search capabilities,turtlebay777 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 26, 2018 7:40 pm Sounds far too complicated, why not just use inxi -F in a terminal?
2) Check operability of devices and find drivers.
Private info is not uploaded. If you want to share some logs with other people for debugging purposes then it's safer to use hw-probe to clean private info. See https://github.com/linuxhw/hw-probe#privacy.turtlebay777 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 26, 2018 7:40 pm That way your computer's data is not stored on a public database which could be made available to potential hackers.

You can install a flatpak of hw-probe in MXPI then run it.
