No All that showed at the end is. The sysvinit service was not created.

✔ Added group piavpn
✔ Added piashnsd
✔ Created piavpn systemd service
DONE!

Getting late here and a long day. Will pick up tomorrow if you are so inclined to continue. No rush. I really do not need to use it. Just want to make sure others installing do not have a problem. Thanks for your efforts.

The part with the "✔" in front is from pia's own installer, except the last line "✔ Created piavpn systemd service", which
I added to verify that this service is also enabled.

perhaps run those three steps uninstall and install, and again reinstall.
and show a bit more from the console-log something like starting from "Preparing to unpack ..."

In case something is blocking the install which is not shown in the log, reboot might often provide a clear start point. ... :snail:

I will give it a try. I tried to show the full install but a popup blocks it for a password prompt and cannot scroll, clearing the password kills the previous data. MXPI log does not show the whole install data.

That's interesting, the console output log ( that's the tab on the above-right "Console output") shall hold the same what you have seen on the screen.

Getting weirder.

Code: Select all

It will not uninstall.

  baloo-kf5 libgtk2-ex-simple-list-perl libquazip1 libsane-perl
  linux-compiler-gcc-6-x86 linux-headers-4.13.0-1-common linux-kbuild-4.13
Use 'apt autoremove' to remove them.
The following packages will be REMOVED:
  piavpn-downloader-installer
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 1 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
After this operation, 61.4 kB disk space will be freed.

If I ignore that and reinstall the same occurs as in post #5.
That's interesting, the console output log ( that's the tab on the above-right "Console output") shall hold the same what you have seen on the screen.
I do not see that tab anywhere.
What I did not mention as it has not caused a problem in the past is that I do have KDE standard installed. Of course I am running this from XFCE not KDE. Before the normal password prompt a kss(something) hash password prompt pops up. If I use that it errors . Closing that the normal password prompt shows and the process continues but the delete does not occur as before.
Perhaps I nee to delete the KDE stuff.
This is getting convoluted perhaps with the other stuff the system has installed. But as I indicated, with the same setup before there were no issues.

EDIT: Even with that uninstall error PIA is nowhere to be found on the system. And greyed out in mXPI.
