Where can I get the KDE version?

#1 Post by Sparky »

Is there a link to the KDE spin of MX?
I really like KDE and would love to give it a try.
Thanks.

Here's the link from the Los Angeles mirror: http://iso.mxrepo.com/Snapshots/Community_Respins/

You might find it in a mirror closer to home: https://www.google.com/maps/d/embed?mid ... 657993&z=2

@Sparky:
Links to Adrian's KDE spin are easy enough to find:

1) MX Desktop Respins (list):
http://forum.mxlinux.org/viewtopic.php? ... 384e07aa1c

2) Or on his post:
http://forum.mxlinux.org/viewtopic.php? ... 384e07aa1c

Or shortcut to Sourceforge downloads:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/adrian-test/files/

EDIT:
@Stevo: link to LA repo you gave above needs 'Downloads' in path (& KDE respin removed from local mirrors):
http://iso.mxrepo.com/Downloads/Snapsho ... y_Respins/

Or here:
http://mxrepo.com/snapshots/Community_Respins/

Greetings

Apologies if this is the wrong spot, kindly move - Installed latest KDE Respin - ISO/MX-KDE-19.3.1_x64.iso + 150M in updates

It did not go well - even the 'install' button complained - said I had to run yadda/yadda in root terminal
So why not run 'minstall' in root terminal, right from the get-go

I setup KDE like I usually do - everything went according to plan - no problems - menus still very cluttered/busy
Would have expected some culling here - its still a kludge of both window GUI's - even the standard GUI is too busy [my nickel]

The first executable I tried was 'gdebi' .. no go ... simply a lot of noise/messages ... too many to remember - it does not work
The next was 'partition editor' which brought up KDE's lame version - what happened to 'gparted' - it simply works, as it should
As we use iPhones, I hit 'iDeviceMounter' ... it took a while, but eventually recognized my rooted iPhone, but alas would/could
not display any files in either Thunar or Dolphin - thats when I quit - this is simply not up to MX Linux incredibly high standards

I understand all the unofficial respin caveats - I simply wanted to see if it was better/different from my own respin, which we
have been running for about a year, along with all its attendant upgrades and snapshots - we have never, repeat, never been able
to break or crash this version of MXL + KDE - which cannot be said for any other DEB/RPM/KDE O/S - we have broken and crashed
them all, unfortunately - all except MX Linux - we run say 15 partitions with various flavors, with say 3 or 4 current O/S, in case
there is a hiccup after any sizeable/significant update - easier to simply continue with another O/S, and fix that ails it later on.
Thruput is simply critical-mass in our business - all this on my main production notebook ... a highly modified 18'' Vaio

Regards

Jack

DId you check the md5sum/sha of that download and then the md5sum/sha of the install media itself? Weird stuff can happen if those things don't match.

Hi there

Negative - have not seen a mdsum/sha error in over 5 years, besides there were zero error codes

this is simply not up to MX Linux incredibly high standards
That is not governed by MX standards since it is a Community respin, not an official release. From the Wiki:
This page provides access to Community remasterings of antiX and antiX MX. These are NOT official releases, though they have been vetted by at least one member of the Dev Team, and thus do not carry the guarantees and support that the official releases enjoy. But they may be of interest to users and are listed here for their convenience.
Production: 5.10, MX-23 Xfce, AMD FX-4130 Quad-Core, GeForce GT 630/PCIe/SSE2, 16 GB, SSD 120 GB, Data 1TB
Personal: Lenovo X1 Carbon with MX-23 Fluxbox and Windows 10
Other: Raspberry Pi 5 with MX-23 Xfce Raspberry Pi Respin

Correct - my respins work 100% - their origins are from the same sources as the faulty respin, via my ISP - who must be very special

You are guilty of gross sandbagging
