MX-Linux 18 is a great distro. Fast, lean, and easy to install. Plus it's Debian-based,which I reckon is a real plus.
But what about an Australian mirror? Australia, pop.24.7 million, has a thriving Linux community. It's no surprise that most popular Linux distributions like Debian, Ubuntu, Linuxmint etc. have several fast, dependable mirrors around the Country. The closest MX-linux mirror, in contrast, is in New Zealand, 2000km away across the Tasman Sea,and it's painfully slow from here.
Does anyone know whether any moves are afoot to address this?
{Solved} Great Distro! Pity there's no Australian Mirror.

The trouble with having an open mind is .. . . .
. . . . . people come and put things in it.

It sure seems like an oversight to leave out an entire continent! Let's see what can be done.
Re: Great Distro! Pity there's no Australian Mirror.
Have you tried MX Repo Manager, which should show you to select one of those:
Code: Select all
Australia, Launceston - http://mirror.launtel.net.au/repo/mx
Australia, Melbourne - http://mx.mirror.ausnetservers.net.au/packages
Australia, Sydney - http://mirror.datamossa.io/mxlinux
EDIT: In case you referring with "mirror" to ISO-download mirror have a look here:
Code: Select all

Gigabyte Z77M-D3H, Intel Xeon E3-1240 V2 (Quad core), 32GB RAM,
GeForce GTX 770, Samsung SSD 850 EVO 500GB, Seagate Barracuda 4TB

Like felix said, there's at least three Australian MX mirrors:
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

I've been around many other Linux distros since 1997, but obviously I still have much to learn about MX-Linux!
