Bump?! It's excellent, as I already said on the YT channel. And everybody here appreciates that you put such thought into it and produced it so quickly.

Re: Video: Debian 9.6 updates grub
Nice video. And the user see und understand the red-mark cursor and see to use space-bar, tab-key and enterkey, incase they got prompted for an action. Btw. UEFI grub is also fully updated within my system incldung a new grubx64.efi is generated.
The prompts appear also if during post install grub "thinks" that same confiles have been changed, not only /etc/default/grub. But most user never touch those other anyway.

Another comment. I think 3 day ago, we tried to test buster grub update together with Stevo, and we could only partly figure out how to avoid thos grub-update prompts to not confuse the user to much. And now we have your Video . Nothething to be worried anymore. Wow.Well done

The ncurses promts can be avoided by doing updates in Synaptic. Then they show as normal GUI promts instead. Good video as always.

Re: Video: Debian 9.6 updates grub
I think updating in mx-pi is the same as synaptic. we force the gnome frontend at install time.

Re: Video: Debian 9.6 updates grub
Your video showed weird looking prompts. I did the update in Synaptic and got the same prompts, but dressed as normal GTK dialogs.
EDIT: OK, MXPI, haven't tried that.

Re: Video: Debian 9.6 updates grub
yes, the apt system can use one of several frontends for questions, which usually gets determined based on the environment apt is running in. in the case of synaptic, it uses the gnome (and/or possibly kde) frontends, and in the terminal/console gets a text (dialog?) front end. the updater tool does the actual upgrade in a terminal, so the text prompts get used.
