Thanks Rich :D

TomTom set to bike.. nope. It's fine for when you lose your way to see roughly which direction to take to get back, but that's it. Getting me a simple bike computer mounted (so no nav) professionally on my scooter costs 50 euros including everything, ehh.. I think I am going to get me a bike nav thingie for the scooter sometime.

Found some deco stuff at two different stores and combined them into "me".

My full nick is not Eadwine Rose, it is something that only a few know as I rarely use it: Eadwine White Rose, since I love white roses. Hence those four ;)

And I am a very colorful person character wise (I am more of a plain tones clothes one, mostly black hahaha), and am very open minded as in "everyone should be able to be and love who they want", which is pride related. So yeah, fits me to a t :) Wait and see how long the stuff will last, wear wise.

And the zebra got moved up a little. :)

Knoop doorgehakt, is what we say here.

I have tried for DAYS with various apps, route trackers, even the TomTom. The route trackers work about 50% of the time. I do have an offline map on my phone, but that is not for navigating and since I don't have a data pack on my phone (expensive stuff) things get annoying really fast. It has been annoying me for.. well.. ever since the second day I drove my scooter where the app said screw you, so I have been thinking about solutions and options for just as long. When I went to the city yesterday and took a wrong turn I was annoyed at myself for failing, and when the idea came in my head to go to the bigger city I really needed something navigational which works better than the TomTom. ;)

Happened to pass a mobility scooter shop today, and figured I'd ask them if they knew something. They could mount a simple bike computer (you know.. time, day distance, total distance, speed, that stuff) including everything for €50. And then I do need permission since it is mounting something on the thing that is not owned by yours truly. It IS removable, easily enough, but still.

Nice people by the way in that store :) But 50 euros for a little thing that you can seriously buy for a fiver at a discount store without mounting (which doesn't fit, but since those folk will adjust the thing so it will fit, since it is normally not suitable for a scooter like mine.... ). Eh.. 50 is a bit much.

So.. I weighed various options and one of them was a full blown nav system designed for bikes, so that should work, contrary to the TomTom on bike setting, which still wants me to take roundabouts that are for cars only. :blindfold:

So.. I started on a comparison search, which brand has the best reviews here. I also had my max that I wanted to spend from savings. Various brands out there and I ended up with two that fit my demands: Mio and Garmin.

Garmin was out of my price range, Mio was not. So.. I found a Mio 210, AND ... searchaholic that I am, found a shop where it was even 10 less than elsewhere. Paid with PayPal, so should it need to be returned even my return fee (which is not free at that shop) will get reimbursed.

Oh.. what that looks like? This one in the pic :)

Now all I need to get over is that fear of having the scooter be taken by the taxi hahaha. Yes I have the service, and yes I am that much of a chicken xxxxxxx ;) I will do it at some point in time though :)

That is cool! I should get one for a golf cart. I find myself in unknown places when I drive the ball.

*giggle* They are affordable so.. why not :)

The 200 is also available for even less, but I find that it is not available at many stores so.. I wager it is a model that will cease to exist soon. The 210 is the newer model thoughI couldn't find anything different between the two other than the size and an alleged longer battery life *shrug*

Hope I haven't got the wrong end of the stick by not reading the full thread. On my Android phone there's a free app (hate that word, why can't they call it a program?) called Voice GPS which is a voice speaking program showing the position on a map. You can download free Google maps for an area or areas which are saved on the phone so the app can work in an off line mode.I have downloads of most of the south west of the uk, which I would need, all off line.

You didn't read the full post ;) Nr 53. I have tried a lot of apps, all with finicky results. Whether it is the map part that fails, or the GPS logging that fails. And my GPS signal is strong enough to even work inside the supermarket.. so..

An actual system designed for this purpose will be better for me.

The Mio, like the TomTom, Garmin etc., needs to 'see' at least 4 GPS satellites to give stable readings. If you are in a town/city with high buildings around it is more than likely that line-of sight conditions will vary as you travel, particularly on footpaths/sidewalks where you are close to buildings.

Another thought. You could get a big ball of string, tie one end to the door knob at home and pay it out as you go ?

I know how the thing works ;) I have had a TomTom for years after all. :)

The string? Oh like those breadcrumbs of Hansel and Gretel? hahaha
