Request for Waterfox [SOLVED]
Re: Request for Waterfox [SOLVED]
Well...since we can't compile it from source, much like we can't compile new Firefox releases now, maybe I can just put their binary in a deb if they allow redistribution. It looks like it's amd64 only, though.
Edit: License seems to be the same as for Firefox binaries that we package into debs: https://github.com/MrAlex94/Waterfox/bl ... er/LICENSE
so turning our debian folder for Firefox into one to package the Waterfox binary instead looks really easy. I'm on it.
But doing all the language files looks like a big job, especially when they already have a repository. I would propose we just use MX package installer to add their repo, the repo key, and then install their deb and the langpack for the current locale, noting that it's for 64-bit users only, if we can't make it invisible to 32-bit. That makes it dead easy to install, and updates will then come automatically.

Re: Request for Waterfox [SOLVED]
Apparently previously installed language packs for Firefox are automatically installed from an existing F/F installation on that computer, along with Bookmarks, etc.
Perhaps just adding 'for 64bit only' after the title in the repo would suffice?

we can do that. very easy if they have a repo. it'll be just like chrome.Stevo wrote: ↑Thu Jun 14, 2018 1:53 pm Well...since we can't compile it from source, much like we can't compile new Firefox releases now, maybe I can just put their binary in a deb if they allow redistribution. and hiding 32 bit is super easy...we built that functionality in from the start. that's why chrome shows up on 64 bit isos, but not on 32.

As merely a novice user of MX, thank you from me too! Wow, this distro ROCKS!
If it's of any help the Linux Mint version of Synaptic contains Waterfox and all the language varieties.

Re: Request for Waterfox [SOLVED]
I'll look and try to see how they did it, but they may just have used a script that copied everything from the Waterfox repo to theirs..they've done similar things in the past, I think.

I don't know my a** (er, donkey) from my elbow with programming but thanks guys (and/or girls) for your interest.
Re: Request for Waterfox [SOLVED]
I can't find Waterfox in the Mint repos, so I suspect they've just added the Waterfox one. http://packages.linuxmint.com/turtlebay777 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 14, 2018 4:46 pm I don't know my a** (er, donkey) from my elbow with programming but thanks guys (and/or girls) for your interest.
If you look in the repo settings in Mint's Synaptic, that might be evident.

Re: Request for Waterfox [SOLVED]
sent the new pkglist for mx-pi to tim.
I added a little script that should bring down the language pack too, although the author of the waterfox deb has an annoying popup in the middle of install telling you to download a language pack if you want.
