Downloaded the first beta (MX-14_13.97_386-xfce.iso). Yay, I used Unetbootin in Debian Wheezy, worked fine. I'll try an installation later, but the live session is more important to me, so I'm checking that out now. Everything looks great so far except Midori opens to the "about:blank" page. No problems with my internet connection (wired), or with inserting another flash drive. This is a Compaq Presario CQ57 notebook:

Install looks real good in a VM. Installed using existing partitions, no home save. Printer installation for my wireless printer was a snap using the native printer configuration utility. I get two sliders with the volume app. May be because of stereo? Laptop has four speakers. Everything else I tried, browser, minitube, synaptic, Thunar, terminal work as expected. For what it is worth inxi in the VM., (not much worth since it is a VM install)

Installed to netbook and to desktop from usb stick (isohybrid). Installation time 9 mins on netbook and 4 mins on desktop ( to 20GB ssd partition). Everything works smoothly on both.

Both installs are very snappy in use - the desktop install is like lightning.

I still have to test file sharing, printer installation and scanning.

A very polished beta.

Box in sig:

Update manager does nothing. Launching from a terminal as root produces this:

Code: Select all

chris@mx1:~
$ update-manager
[CRITICAL:UpdateManager.Application] Invalid implementation name MX-14
chris@mx1:~
$

After installing Clementine from the Meta-installer, and changing the preference from DeaDBeef to Clementine, MP3's don't play.
Using the Clementine dialogue to select a music folder does nothing.
There is no icon for Clementine in the Whisker Menu.

Using the mouse wheel when hovering over the speaker icon changes the volume OK, but results in two notifications.

DELL Latitude D610:

All as above, plus no wifi. System tray icon says 'Device not managed'. (Wifi worked on this machine with all alphas.)

Okay, that's cool. Gonna keep it that way, or will there be a default home page in the future?

Can you please paste in the output of

Code: Select all

inxi -F
We have not touched wifi, so doubt the problem is on our side (sorry). You did click on the little icon, right?

Also: Clementine icon not there at first, but is after I logged out and back in.

Renaming or deleting the /etc/lsb-release file will allow update-manager to start.

Instead of renaming/deleting, you can also edit it, change the first line to: DISTRIB_ID=Debian

Printer installation OK - the available drivers for my Samsung CLX-3305 gave mono printing, but a download driver gave full options.

Not so fortunate with the scanning function. Simple scan and gscan2pdf both gave 'no device found'.

Time to boot on the desktop - 11 secs from Grub.
