My point was that installing heavy meta-packages from MXPI (especially the "popular apps" section) can yield an underwhelming result. I only noticed for KDE, but i suspect this is the case for many others. I am all for minimalism - i imagine that is the reasoning for skipping recommends by default - but in practice this can produce disappointing results, applications half-broken or with reduced functionality that differ from the parent debian distribution.

Perhaps MXPI could list the recommended packages and leave it to the user to install them or not (via an extra toggle). Of course this is easy for me to suggest when someone else will have to implement it ;-)
