dual boot: error messages

#1 Post by Duliwi »

Hello,

My System:
MBR dual boot: Windows 7 Starter and MX Linux 18.3 (installed yesterday)

I have an about 10 years old netbook:
Processor: Intel Atom 270N
RAM: 1 GB
HD: 160 GB
System: 32 bit
Screen 10.1 inch

When I boot, there are some error messages:
MX Linux Boot.jpg
Hope you can read it.
Is this normal?

Thank you.

So this errors have something to do with the graphic card?

-> This is a Mobile Intel(R) 945 Express Chipset Family.

possibly anyway.

I assume that you are not getting to a desktop?

you could try

Code: Select all

xorg=intel
for a boot code and see if that helps.

FWIW antiX with the 4.9 kernel may work better anyway.

Well, the desktop appears. But there are windows who are too big. For example libre Office. The window has not place on the screen. And I am not able to make it smaller with the mouse. I can not see the bottom of the window.

if you get a desktop, you don't need to paste it, but if you did, you would do it on the live media boot screen.

as to resolution, I wonder what your system is defaulting to. those old netbooks only have 1024/600 screens. but usually running apps "full screen" snaps them to the screen size.

I have tried Libre Office on my eeepc901 and get the same problems as Duliwi, but Libre Office Writer on its own works OK, as does Firefox and all other apps I have tried.
BTW Alt-leftclick drag is useful for those cases which hide the bottom of the screen.

P.S. The eeePC is running MX15 32-bit.

I would if its working.

If you want, you can get rid of the plymouth error by disabling or unintalling plymouth. You can disable in mx-boot-options.
