Possible networking phone tettering bug

#1 Post by tomalock »

Hello, Let me say first off MX is a nice looking OS and it works pretty good for the most part but I've noticed something about the wifi and usb network connection.

I tetter off my smartphone (a Tetra 5041c AT&T phone) to access the internet, I can bootup and use wifi just fine and it works just like it should but if I cut off the wifi for a few minutes or take the phone with me for whatever the reason once I try to reconnect the desktop it shows connection but when it tries to access the internet it says no connection. If I reboot everything is working fine again. I've notice on the laptop that uses Ubuntu this is not a factor.

The other problem with the phone/MX internet connection is using the USB tettering function, if I bootup the pc with it connected to the phone at first I can cut the USB tettering on but it will cut off but a second later it will cut back on once the OS loads the hotplug mods (this is normal and I'm watching both at same time to see exactly when this happens). The system loads up fine and once at desktop it shows a hardwired USB connection like it should, the problem once I dis connect the phone from the desktop the computer will no longer use that connection AND if I do not load the USB connection like I just described from bootup it will NOT use the USB connection.
The OS goes so far as to "somehow" take control of the phone by shutting down access to the USB tettering function on the phone, I've tried another network manager but nothing changed. I use Ubuntu on the laptop and neither of these problems have happened neither has it occured under other versions of Unix I've ran in the past.

Below is an output of the system as I write this post, this is being done with a wifi connection I will post a follow up of a USB connection shortly:

This is from the USB tettering connection, evrything is basically the same except for this 1 line under "network":

IF-ID-1: usb0 state: unknown speed: N/A duplex: N/A mac: 66:59:11:c5:68:4c

Thanks for any help in finding the problem.
