I have a multiboot machine for testing purposes (read: fun) with dozen linux distros along with 3 win versions. When choose win7 from grub menu, it starts win 10 instead of win7. Same happens with grub from other debian based distros (debian itself included). I can boot into win 7 using grub from opensuse, manjaro (arch based) and calculate (gentoo based). I cant find the difference between win7 entries in nonworking debian grub and working calculate grub. Id appreciate any insights :), im no expert, but not a beginner neither.
I posted the same problem on debian forum, but ill post it on forums of all other distros, hoping someone will find the way to fix this.

Re: Multiboot Grub mix up windows entries
Im rechecking all grubs, it will take some time. But it happens with debian, ubuntu, mint and mx for sure.
Im pretty sure the same problem is on all of them, so if you can help me fix the mx grub, ill probably do the same for all others

Re: Multiboot Grub mix up windows entries
Please also indicate which one of those is the so called "controling" grub, which is
the one when you select to boot from sda,sdb or sdc, you would see first.

Re: Multiboot Grub mix up windows entries
I've looked into those grub's you send. They all look similar in regards to those three OS's entries.
Suggest you try the attached menuentries for booting into you W10 , W7 an XP.
The difference to the generated ones, is that the attached entries do not use the PBR (partion boot record) to boot
into the bootloader but loading directly the window-bootloader through grub.
At least in my test this type of "chainloading" appears to more reliable compared to the PBR boot method.
Find attached the file custom.cfg, with three grub-menuentries.
Please save as or attached to this file:
of any of you controlling grubs's (partitions).
Preferable in to the MX Linux as controling grub as this GRUB version I have do similar menuentries working.
After reboot those three menuentries shall be visible at the end/bottom of the GRUB-menu.
Good Luck

Re: Multiboot Grub mix up windows entries
It worked! I can boot all three of them. Thanks a lot!fehlix wrote: ↑Fri Mar 15, 2019 9:27 pm Find attached the file custom.cfg, with three grub-menuentries.

I'll try this fix on other grubs. I'll also try http://forums.debian.net/viewtopic.php? ... 78#p694277 to see if that can help and I'll post the results.
EDIT:
Solution from Debian forum works too :)
