lost online sound after upgrade (SOLVED)

#1 Post by JBoman »

After large upgrade to mx18 I discovered I have no sound from anything online either streaming or any video. Everything has sound offline. I looked for missing or removed plug ins but with mx Im not sure what I'm looking for; also lost ability to start Digikam. Any tips appreciated. :crossfingers:

Have you checked pulseaudio to see if anything got muted?

As for digikam what happens when you start it in the terminal?

I'm unable to open pulse audio and attempts to start digikam crash in the terminal. Still digging to find some exacting details.

Found the problem with video for sure and likely with digikam as well and it was my mess up. At some point in recent past I had enabled testing in Debian and Debian multimedia so my pulse packages all upgraded to Debian testing and broke video and audio in the process; I forced the install of the latest MX versions and that corrected the issue with video and audio. Digikam still will not start but it wouldn't start before the upgrade either. Not sure whats up with Digikam and don't have time to hack through it for awhile. Will post back on it when I have time to chase out the problem. Thanks all!, JBoman

It's nice that you added "SOLVED" to the subject of this last post, but it has to be in your original post to show up on the Board index. Thanks.
