Bug in virtualbox 5.2.6 [Solved]

#1 Post by mithrandir »

Mx Linux is amazing, I'm very happy to work with it on my pc, congratulations for the developers team.
I have only a little problem with virtualbox. Here https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Changelog is said that virtualbox 5.2.8 fix a problem: "Front end: Linux: prevent VM window from jumping and auto-resizing to tiny size after resizing it on HiDPI screen".
In the Mx Linux repository we have the 5.2.6 Virtualbox version, and on my pc everytime my virtual machine lock its screen the window of virtualbox is resized and remain resized when I unlock the screen.
Would it be possible to downgrade or upgrade the repository version of virtualbox to solve this problem?
Thank you in advance!

Did you install via MXPI?

Because if so, it just enables the Oracle VB repo and all updates come there. I'm sure the update to the new version will be in the repo and updating your system will pull it in.

Hi asqwerth, yes I installed virtualbox via MX Package Installer, but I don't know if I have enabled the Oracle VB repo, how could I do it?
I have reinstalled now virtualbox from MXPI but I believe that in repository there is still the 5.2.6 version.

Via popular apps tab in MXPI or the full app catalog tab?

Only the former will auto-enable oracle's repo.

Pls provide output of the command below to check:

Code: Select all

inxi -r
Desktop: Intel i5-4460, 16GB RAM, Intel integrated graphics
Clevo N130WU-based Ultrabook: Intel i7-8550U (Kaby Lake R), 16GB RAM, Intel integrated graphics (UEFI)
ASUS X42D laptop: AMD Phenom II, 6GB RAM, Mobility Radeon HD 5400

Yes, I've installed virtualbox via popular apps tab in MXPI.

Here the output:

Code: Select all

$ inxi -r

Oops. Looks like the team now repackages VB so they can add the corresponding modules, which I believe are tweaked to work better.

Go to MX test repo to get 5.2.8
