avermedia driver package request

ive been trying to install my avermedia dvbt A815 volar usb stick on mx17 but cant seem to install it. anychance of a package installer
thanks for any help
win 7 pc, lubuntu 17.10 on compaq pressario, mx 17 on inspiron 1545.
samsung 700g7c mx17

You shouldn't need to build the driver, it's built in to the kernel. But you do need the firmware file. Download this firmware:
http://palosaari.fi/linux/v4l-dvb/firmw ... -af9015.fw
And copy it (you'll have to do it as root) to /lib/firmware/
The next time the device is plugged in it should load the firmware and Kaffeine will be able to see it.

noob question, how do i do it as root

Open Thunar, right click an open space > Open Root Thunar here

MX menu -> System -> Root Terminal then you use copy command.

If you are not familiar with the terminal and you would like to use GUI, you could then in Root Terminal type thunar (I didn't try it yet but I would guess it should work) Be careful not to do anything else, it is easy to mess the system when handling system files. And once done close Thunar right away, there is security risk running GUI as root is my beginner understanding.
