MX-16 translations cut-off Monday Nov 21

#1 Post by Jerry3904 »

If you have been postponing the translation of any "resource," your time is growing short!

To include new translations, packages must be recompiled so we need to have time to do that as we head toward a Release Candidate.

Thanks.

As far as I know Dutch is at 100% translated. Is something going to change in there that needs translating so I need to check daily to see if it is still at 100%?

If the translation is at 100% (brilliant!) then I don't see any apps changing any strings. In fact at this stage, they shouldn't IMO.

Portuguese is now 100% (thanks to José Vieira - zeh) and should appear in the apps for final.
There has also been a lot of work done for Turkish lately.

cli-shell-utils has some changes. This should be the last.

Just a reminder that there are also some desktop files that need translating too. These are not over at transifex, but in the forum.

eg viewtopic.php?f=96&t=40705

Many thanks to all translators.

Actually they are over at Transifex too: mx-all-desktop-entries. Saves translators having to comb through old Forum posts. But I will pick up your changes either way.

Edit: I was too quick to reply - the forum post referred to was for desktop files not included in mx-all-desktop-entries. They have to be updated in the forum. Sorry for the confusion.

Just a few words to say that despite all of our efforts we won't be able to have a decent french translation for the release to come.
Chapters 1 and 2 of the manual are translated and chapter 3 is still in progress. We must ensure a high level of coherence between manual and interface and that's not the case at the moment. My apologies. We'll do our best for the next release ;)

Thanks, we appreciate your efforts. If you can finish Section 3 then we can include it in Final, which would terrific!

Cyrilus31. Please do not worry about getting the Manual translated by the 21st. That cut off date is for short translations that are linked to the MX-16 release date, and NOT to the User Manual. This also applies to the others working on Manual translations, which are very much larger projects than the translation of Headings and other phrases by the group using Transifex. The heading on this thread is misleading and should define just which translations have a deadline. We do not have deadlines for the Manual, but of course will appreciate any early completions.

Gordon.
