We now have the concrete example and have reached a decision! A full PDF version of Bicyclist's Russian Manual is now available through the Manual's Tab on this Forum

This pdf has replaced the html because it is only one third of the html file size. Easier to store.

Many thanks to Bicyclist56 for the first full translation of the MX15 manual.

It's wonderful and I'm also very happy!
Unfortunately, three things catch the eye (of only three!) In the Table of Contents found themselves without translation:
1.3 System requirements = Системные требования
3.8 Customization = Настройка
7.4 Configuration files = Конфигурационные файлы

Yes, I see those two mistakes. That has happened because we make a new Table of Contents from a copy of the original html file. Have looked at my download of the your html, and see that 1.3 and 3.8 are still shown in English in the content. Will see if I can fix it here with a cut and paste into the Libre Office and pdf files from your forum post.

I have edited the LO file and pasted your translations into the Table and the into the content Headings. The pdf should appear soon. Thanks for the corrections, I will have to improve my proof reading skills.

Three more languages, Arabic, Catalan and Kazakh have been added to the list on the first page in this thread.

The MX15 figures shown in the post 'Three Weeks In' show several hundred downloads for Korea. Have been unable to produce a copy of translated Korean in Open Document format. The machine translation produces a Romanized version which can be saved and viewed in .sxw (Open Office Writer format) using Abiword. The .sxw file of Manual Sections 1 & 3 in Korean Hangul could added to the list if requested.

I pointed to the html version of the manual.
Selected: English > French

http://www.systranet.com/turl/?systrang ... 1sL2VuX2Zy

After it was translated, I did .. File / Save and it was all saved to a folder on my desktop.

Will this work ok for manual translation?

Just wondering .. Thanks!

Thanks KernSpy for looking at this. With my limited knowledge of other languages, I have used Google Translate to produce software
translated versions of the MX15 User Manual in several languages. Google does a reasonable job, but like any machine based conversion/translation system, it makes a hash of some phraseology. It needs a person who is a natural speaker of any given language, to look at these software translations and sort out the wording so that it makes sense and logical reading for them.

In the case of the Manual, Google Translate retains the overall layout and does not hash up the paragraphs and headings. All we need are
users prepared to devote a bit of time to tidy up phrasing, perhaps expand some of the wording, and MX could be a true multi-lingual OS.

I can manage any editing/changes that hopefully will appear on the Forum, in any language. This may be a never ending job, but so be it.

OK, I noticed that google-translate was one of the loading urls when I clicked on translate.
There are many languages they don't translate. I think there is only about a dozen in the
drop-down list.
