From 16 to 17.1, right?
Yes
It will take a bit of time, will do it this weekend.
Do it when you can. The work that you make available of all of us is already so much.

OK, I found a way to do it.

1) Install diffspdf
2) Put together in the same folder the pdf files for the MX-16 and MX-17.1 manuals, renaming them as you see in the command below
3) Open a terminal in that folder and paste in this command

Code: Select all

diffpdf mxum_16.pdf mxum_17.pdf
4) I haven't explored the app more, but except where big changes make things a bit difficult to read you can page through to see the differences. Didn't see an export function but it may be there.

Ok, thanks jerry.
I made the comparison. You worked a lot on the manual.
There are many changes and I think it will take a long time
In the next few days I will get to work, with the help of grelos

Had a brief look at diffpdf using GUI rather than command line. It certainly shows diff between a pair of pages but gets a bit unwieldy when pages have been
added or deleted in a later version of a pdf. Lyx had a better method for comparing, and think that I used LO for something similar a couple of years ago.
Will do a bit of digging to see if there is an easier method.

Thanks, Gordon, that would be great. It will be LOTS EASIER next time b/c we can run on the individual sections in GitHub. If I remember to archive what is there now...

Jerry, the 'Edit>Track changes>Compare' function in Libre Office could be suitable for handling updates. Will do some testing and report in a day or sso.

Thanks for your offer of assistance! There will be changes to the manual that need translation help shortly. But right now, you could help with the translation of text contained within the MX applications. We keep all this text on the Transifex website. You will need to get an account and then join the antix-development team. The process is described in this wiki article. Give it a try!

There are two resources on Transifex that require a a few translations to complete: mx-all-desktop-entries and mx-boot-options. More needed translations will be coming soon. If you have any problems or need a few more pointers, post back here or send me a PM. Thanks again!
