Looks really nice [richb].
I am command line illiterate. I copy & paste to the terminal. Liars, Wiseguys, Trolls, and those without manners will be added to my ignore list.

Florence would be nearly stationary then. A really good visual and a very nasty storm. One query, at the right hand end of the panel data are a couple of temperatures, Celcius and Fahrenheit. They do not match. 7 C is about 44 and a half F. What is the 57 F ?

I see hurricane Leslie in mid-Atlantic but it is moving NE and will probably fizzle out

Unrelated to the image. 7 C is the processor temp. It is an AMD and a reference temperature 57 F is the current outside temperature.

To connect to the wonderful screenshot of richb...
until the beginning of 2018 you could do something like that with Conky.

S11 wrote about it:
World Time Date & Forecast - CCCC: S11, ragamatrix, Habitual & TeoBigusGeekus

Habitual wrote the daylight.sh script that gets the daylight/cloud cover image: /media/5/Conky/images/world_1600.jpg

- in 2010 - it's old, still works.

I found the a simple weather site in China (Today's Hi/Low, simple condition) and the 'data collection' script was done by Teo: majorcities

draw-bg.lua does the fake beveled edge.

conky ${tztime} gets the time for each location

${if_match} compares the date of each ${tztime [place] %d} with ${tztime NZ %d} (New Zealand) to display colour for the dates of the two days.

A whole bunch of ${goto xxx} commands with a few ${voffsets xx} to fine tune things
what still looked like last September2017 (By the way, that was Hurricane Irma.)

Unfortunately this has been changed on the website and TBG ingenious script can no longer retrieve the temperatures worldwide.
Map, clouds and time are still ok. ;)

Thank you for clarifying that. Looks like a cool processor.

How did you make the bar transparent?

That’s pretty sweet looking.
