This morning Mozilla disabled my add ons without even asking me!
I know there was some talk in another thread somewhere, (but couldn't find it with a search), so put your experiences in this one, (& any solutions to stop them doing it).
Recommendations for another browser of similar usage/power, (i.e. not dillo), also put that in here too.
Go to Preferences > Privacy & Security:
check
Allow Firefox to send technical and interaction data to Mozilla
Allow Firefox to install and run studies
Restart Firefox
addons should come back
then go back and uncheck above
there is an < temporary > Fix that is being put out by the Mozilla Foundation,
but it's still Not Widely available, as yet .. like always, it'll take some time to roll out.
NB: that fix by old_guy - isn't working, either ..
All the audio stuttering that I used to have with VLC, which I initially [correctly] blamed on FF, went away after a lot of
searching/experimenting with various bits & pieces - I finally deleted all the audio players & went with the slim & trim
Audascious, which has performed brilliantly, until FF went rogue - I didnt buy the old saw that LT built a lousy kernel to
trip-up every one using MXL.
The stuttering came back with a vengeance last evening, whilst I was browsing the net, looking for a particular exotic
auto ... WTF .. my mosheen went thermal - had to use the hot button, reboot only to repeat the entire scenario all over
again, this time with signs that my beloved Adblock had first been updated, and then a couple minutes later that all my
legacy addons had been disabled ... including Adblock, all the while trashing Pavarotti in concert, in Munich, biite.
It should be fixed fairly soon, one hopes - does one believe the FF techno excuses or do they simply get paid a bunch by
giggle, nicrosqish, fakebook, et al, to look the other way, whilst they wreck everything with their tacky advertising
