Hi
I am looking to just see 'samples' of different desktops. I see how to do it from this post.

Q. MX19, as is, I like with all the features, etc.
So if I switch to say, Budgie, will all the features that are in MX19 XCFE work seamlessly?

If I don't like the new environment I assume I just uninstall and it will go back to XCFE.

Thanks.

Not the MX tools that are tweaking XFCE, obviously, like the panel settings. Many others won't be affected, such as the MX snapshot or boot-options tools, since they don't have anything to do with XFCE.

You don't have to remove another DE to be able to go back to XFCE, just pick it from the little menu icon in the upper right of the login screen (assuming you don't have automatic login!). I think it's always a good idea to have another DE available, in case you completely trash your main one and can't start your it (GNOME and KDE seem prone to this) You could have another user, or log into root, but then you run into permission problems which might be trouble for a beginner.

Thanks Stevo.

I do have auto login.
I will install and then logout which should prompt for the desired menu choice.
Glad you mentioned the ones that crash more - wasn't going to try KDE or Gnome anyway but good you listed them to avoid.
Thanks

The information you need is in section 6.3 of the manual.

Thanks.
The link was good but too much for me to read.

I just wanted to know if the features of MX Linux would work seamlessly as I was unsure how changing desktops affect functionality.
Stevo was right.

I installed Budgie DE and selected it from the top right menu when logging in. It works but I still prefer MX Linux XCFE.
The simple feature (like dragging an application to the panel) is really useful.
