Unable to boot from Hard Disk in Dell Inspiron 5558

Updates after the below steps:
========================================
Changed Bios as directed.
Booted from Live USB.
Cleaned Partitions via GParted
Reinstalled MXLinux via Installer (GrUb set to MBR)
Restarted System -> Selected Boot from Hard Disk -> All Good
========================================


Shut down the System Again.
Removed LiveUSB.
Started the Laptop.
Got the below error.

Rebooted the Laptop.
Went to Boot Menu (F12)
Selected HDD from the menu.

Rebooted the Laptop with Live USB
No Issues with Boot Menu
Selected Boot from HDD.
Was able to login and so on..

What am I doing wrong?

Hmmm... Seems that a little trick is needed. In my HP laptop I resolve a similar problem by increasing of startup time by 5 seconds (in BIOS), So BIOS can have time to populate boot information.

Have you updated BIOS of this laptop to the latest one? If not. I will recommend to have a
DLC Boot

, because you do not have windows anymore. Get it and prepare a boot CD (Portable Windows inside) . Get the BIOS exe from Dell and Apply ( maybe it is a BIOS update for Linux ?)

надо нажать, f12 затем настройки биоса в низу и включить легалиси)))
перезагрузить и опять f12 и там уже 1ую строчку тыкай

Means, chose Legacy and put it first !.

Let me know if you resolved by playing with BIOS.
I wonder if the HDD stores still some kind of information's somewhere.In these cases I use DLC Boot and destroy and format all my HDD (also MBR) and use fixmbr (Mini Partition)

Do not discourage. You are so close to your solution.

You can enter grub (in USB mode by pressing e letter) and write down the grub entry ( that said start by your HDD).These need to be compared by you grub entry in your hdd. You can not have access to HDD grub entry so by pressing e letter to correct it?

P.S.
Remove - PXE-M0F from boot or drop it down. Put your HDD first or USB, HDD and so on.

I am faraway from my MX Linux machine but can you repeat again ?Using Gparted full delete your HDD and create MSDOS partition table.( I am not very sure if help , because I can not try this moment )

Please repeat installing procedure and post the screen when you chose where to install boot. Be sure to be /sda (your hdd)

So I was able to get the OS running. I will post the complete story very soon. Thanks a ton for your help!

P.S. I took your advice and got myself a SSD.

Watch out this space for the climax of the installation war between me and my legacy laptop :)
