It’s an HDMI Republic of Gamers gaming laptop. However I’ll look into if that’s a viable solutionStevo wrote: ↑Fri Jul 19, 2019 7:48 pm Is this a Dell laptop? They often need to have the nouveau driver driver blacklisted at boot, or you do get the Black Screen of Death at boot. You don't need that after installing the Nvidia drivers, but it then may need another boot cheat to get working correctly.

Well I got rid of it. The wallpaper and the time appears. No mouse or anything else.dolphin_oracle wrote: ↑Fri Jul 19, 2019 8:36 am Try removing the /etc/X11/xorg.conf file. IIRC some.folks have an issue where the xfce desktop doesn't load up correctly when the basic xorg.conf is present.

If you can boot from the MX USB, run MX Tools/Quick System Info then simply right-click and paste into a reply. No need to copy/paste, just paste. Quick System Info copies the output to your clipboard for you, already formatted for posting in the forum.
Please read the Forum Rules, How To Ask For Help, How to Break Your System and Don't Break Debian. Always include your full Quick System Info (QSI) with each and every new help request.
