I used the Rufus live USB boot utility (recommended by MX-Linux)....had no problems...preceded by a complete format on the USB stick, using the SD Memory Card Formatter utility from the SDCard.org website.

Let's start over:
What is the make and model of your computer?
What program did you use to burn your DVD?
HP 15; ryzen 3 5300U APU; 500 Gb SSD; 8GB ram
Aspire V5-571; CPU Intel I3; 500 GB SSD; Intel 2nd Gen Graphics; 8 GB Ram
Aspire XC-866; i3-9100; UHD 630; 8 GB ram; 1TB HDD

In Linux, newer isn't always better. The best solution is the one that works.

Hi, I am now on Mx Linux, after watching some more videos I saw that I had to restart computer with disc in so it would start up with Mx linux. I was on updating last night and played with it a little . Back on this morning getting firefox setup I have to say it is 100 times easier to navigate than windows. Thank you to all of you for your help and patience. I will be on this chat forum I'm sure often . Thank you again have a good day.

Thank you, Michael It's Monday still figuring some things out. Firefox seems a little sketchy on linux some sites i can't play video. some are a little clunky when I scroll. But other than that having a good time trying to get use to new system . It's alot easier to navigate than windows for sure. Have a good day hope to chat with you soon.

Hi newnerd,

If the stock desktop of MX isn't to your liking, there are multiple other options, one of the true beauties of Linux is the wide availability of choices. I'm reasonable 'old-school' as I like the old style 'traditional desktop' like Win95/Win7. So I use the Trinity Desktop Environment.

If that floats your boat, the install instructions are here:
