This would be a good opportunity to post the output of
inxi -F
in a terminal
or Quick System Info in MX Tools while running in a Live session if needed.
I think you can also use Boot Repair from a Live session to repair an installed version.

It doesn't seem your system got really installed. Boot up from your installation media, connect to internet, open a terminal and run:

Code: Select all

sudo apt update

Code: Select all

and sudo apt install --reinstall mx-installer
Next start the installer and when you get to the bootloader installation screen choose "ESP" and point the installer to the EFI partition.

PS: I would really go for a somewhat bigger partition to install MX on at least 20-25 GB.

If Your first OS is installed in the UEFI mode, in this case Win 10 (that is you have an EFI system partition on your disk) then you should install the second one in the same mode as well. You will then have a choice which OS you want to boot into in the Grub menu.

Why MBR does not work out?
in UEFI equipped systems the set up utility expects to find bootloaders in the EPT section of the EFI partition, whereas in legacy systems boot loaders are expected to be in the MBR.
HP 15; ryzen 3 5300U APU; 500 Gb SSD; 8GB ram
Aspire V5-571; CPU Intel I3; 500 GB SSD; Intel 2nd Gen Graphics; 8 GB Ram
Aspire XC-866; i3-9100; UHD 630; 8 GB ram; 1TB HDD

In Linux, newer isn't always better. The best solution is the one that works.

I got a 100 MBit sized EFI partition as well. So chosing ESP will solve these issues? :)

Ahh, this acronym stands for efi system partition which makes some kind of sense now.
Yes, that's what I've done with a couple laptops to dual boot Win10 and MX.
UEFI=ON, Secure Boot=OFF, install to ESP.
Some machines, such as Acers, also require you to first set a security password for the BIOS before you can make these changes, then after the install (and also after BIOS and Windows updates), add the MX GRUB efi file to the list of trusted boot files, then make sure that one is at the top of the boot order.
