Glad he made it OK.
We have a problem with our cat, Tux.
(Tux is a female by the way)
Her mommy was killed when she was still a kitten so she did not get socialized properly.
So when we take her to the vet she gets extremely stressed. She is in her growl and attack mode the whole time.
Our vet says to only bring her in when we absolutely have to because of her stress levels.
She has to go in next week because she is having stomach problems.
Dreading it already.
We give her Bach Rescue Remedy for pets and trim her toenails before she goes in.

*nods* that is the smartest way to go about things with kitties as scared as these.

I hear you where the dreading is concerned alright.. brrr.

Right now Doerak is out of the room, and gives me a heart attack nearly every time he goes downstairs.

He HAS eaten a little bit.. crushed kibble with a bit of water. Giving him very small portions at a time, like 5-8 or something like that. He's lapping it up so far, with a bit of trouble, but it's going in. This way he will get some water in his body as well :)

I still have to find a time to put the car back in the garage haha.. it's 9pm now, so I wager it's going to get a bit late tonight.. ah well. Him being up and about is a good thing, the more he moves the quicker those chemicals can leave his little body.

Thanks!!

He is doing well. Currently sleeping on the highest shelf in his room.

He was doing the wobble game till really late in the evening, I left his room door closed the first part of the night because I didn't want to see him venture up top and then falling about 2 meters to the floor while doped up. Not good.

He woke me at 4am, all happy and enthusiastic so I gave him a bit of food and opened the door to his room. Right now he is his happy little self again.

Always nice to have our friends back to "normal" (I put this in quotes, because none of my four-legged friends are anything approaching normal) after a traumatic experience.

Thanks all :)

Just wait till we have to go for his checkup next week. If all goes well I will ask to wait a wee while longer so she can give him his annual vaccination shot at the same time.

update for those interested

All the ins and outs are operational, this morning I was gifted the first stool in his bin since the operation. Perfectly normal looking too. *thumbs up*

Food was an issue. He was on hypoallergenic food because he had a reaction to.. something (I am pretty sure what, but still, you have to be careful), we discovered this tooth thing during the checkup on that visit and we had to switch food that day. We needed to wait a while with this operation to get the allergic reaction under control. He'll get his regular food back again, slowly, in a few months, we're going to try and see what goes well and work with that

So hypo food now, and when the after-op directions said "wet food only for a week", I figured to just soak his kibble and that would work. He didn't mind when I tried, so. (Royal Canin doesn't have hypo wet food for cats anymore, grrrrr).

Well.. long story short, he had issues eating it, and he didn't eat nearly enough. He wanted his regular kibble, this soaked stuff is BAH!
I tried grinding his kibble and adding some water to it. Also BAH!!

I HAVE his old wet food in the house, however, risking an allergic reaction when healing, not good, I saw the inside of his mouth back when, all red and yucky. Heck no.. not risking that.
Changing over to a different hypo food was also not an option as different brands have different bases, this one works, and you never know if the other one will work just as well or if he will still get a reaction on that, so that was a no go.

Now what.. give him his kibble, risking the suture, or give him his wet food, risking allergies. GAH!

A friend who has a lot of experience with kitties, teeth issues, and sutures in the mouth had a solution. Sort of a compromise: gently grind the kibble, so not as far as I was doing, but just making the pieces smaller, like kitten kibble size. That way he'll not chew as much and he'll still get his food in.

Tried that and it works!

Of course I let the vet office know about this. Of course the vet who did the operation had two days off, and I needed to make a decision here. Sorry about the wet food violation, but a cat needs to EAT! I spoke with two assistants who both agreed with me. And it is only one suture, not his whole mouth. Eating well is very important for the healing process after all. So.. we're doing it this way and keeping the fingers crossed everything goes well. So far so good in any case. *thumbs up*

He reminds me of my cat Butch, known around these parts as "Mister Butch Sir". He'll maybe eat gooshy food for one meal. Any more often than that and he just leaves most of it in his bowl and I end up having to throw it away. He must have crunchy food or he won't eat enough.
