The end is a pure moment of happiness. Thanks for that one.

Two really awesome drummers (there are videos of Sato playing with a fusion band at 6 years of ago).

Both still going strong in 2019, although Sato may still be in school and only playing part-time.
This one is good too.

Kanade Sato's currently drumming in a small fusion band called Ear Candy Jazz Factory, along with Rei Narita on keyboards and Sakura Naoko on bass.
Oops, I've only just realised I linked to the wrong youtube video in my post above! This was the one I meant:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4sf3DgS3LEA

where the 2 of them drum-dueled together in 2012 - Sato's just a little girl here! But already so good.

Yes, I was aware of the Ear Candy Jazz Factory band, but frankly I think their music is not challenging enough for Sato. Maybe she's just doing this for the moment while she's still in school? That's my suspicion in any case.

I just watched/listened to the duet video. Man, they're both so good and so tight, in perfect sync. Close your eyes and you can't even tell that there are two drummers playing.

You may be right. ECJF sounds pretty good to me but their music's not really that challenging for her, it's more like run of the mill cool jazz/fusion or something, like a jazz equivalent to elevator music, sort of. She's probably mainly doing it to give her a reason to practice regularly but without taking up too much of her time. I do know that unlike many young, talented drummers she doesn't just get up on stage and do complicated solos, "bangety-bangety-bangety-bang". She sounds very professional, and I think that if her English is up to the task (of which I have no idea) she could go to L.A. and get work as a studio cat any time she wants to, and maybe later even form her own band. She's like another Billy Cobham or Buddy Rich.

I remember reading somewhere that her dad's a drummer and he started teaching her to play when she was very young, I want to say 6 years old but maybe even younger than that, and that the two of them would take their drum sets out to a park on Sundays during nice weather and have drumming competitions.

Here she is at age 12 covering Duke Ellington's cover of Caravan:

and here she's covering Megalith by T-Square. This is more like it, more challenging and showing what she can do:

I think she was also 12 here. (And to think, when I was 12 I was usually squandering my time fishing.)
