After updated Suspension isn't working right!

#1 Post by aldQueiroz »

Hi, folks. Well, I've experiencing an issue with hibernation AND suspension of the system... After a recent system update (I don't know of exactly which package...) my system isn't going to hibernation neither suspension as it was supposed to go. Herewith attached there's a screen capture with the warning . But I realized it is related to Firefox! I did call suspension before through Action button and it worked "apparently" normal, bu only when Firefox wasn't running.. I use Vivaldi browser too, but I have not checked out yet if open tabs with Vivaldi can cause the same issue...
I have mentioned this trouble at another thread; however, as suggested, I'm opening this new one in order to allow me assign it as solved once I get the due answer!
Here, the QAS :

I'm sure there's plenty of memory at my /swap partition : 13 GB, while there're 8 GB of RAM !
Any clue of what is happening?...

I don't think your swap is actually in use. have you formatted it lately?

Well, I've changed the location of my /root to my SSD, but haven't unchanged /home and /swap still at the HDD (or, at least, I supposed both were kept unchanged AND active at the new configuration...)

your swap is missing a partition UUUID. here's what mine looks like

Code: Select all

sudo blkid |grep swap
/dev/sda7: LABEL="swap" UUID="692bddf8-4195-4ccb-90ba-5efeaa4b7f20" TYPE="swap" PARTUUID="364d9d45-e274-459f-a5df-89d8a408ea94"

No, that /swap (and, currently, all HDD device) is in use with MX Linux only!...

I see... I suppose that was a consequence of HDD to SSD migration process, which I didn't succeed at first try...
How can I change swap UUID? Using Gparted, perhaps?...

Edit: Yes, PARTUUID= ... is missing at the end.

Maybe you can do it on live-session particularly:

GParted: Right-click delete sda5 , then recreate a swap partition there (the new name may not be sda5 , will be probably sda6 , nothing to worry..),

then change the UUID in fstab ( b32432d3-11d4-4280-a562-ee6b40533203 ) to the new one, save.. (Just remember not to confuse the /etc .. : not the /etc of the live session, but the one in the MX partition, labeled rootMX19 )

Finally "Chroot Rescue Scan" from Menu.. hit Enter when it finds your installed MX .. and it turns into a terminal with this prompt

chroot>

issue:

Code: Select all

update-initramfs -uk all
If you say you can do that ...

P.S. Yes, maybe just "check" or reformat etc. might work, but this will be a "clean job" . :)
