We shipped the last MX release with LibreOffice 6.X already? What version of MX are you using?
Re: how to update the Libreoffice-pakets from 5xy to 6xy
what I've done, is to remove the Installed Version, with synaptic,
and then down load the required version,, say: - LibreOffice_6.1.6_Linux_x86-64_deb_sdk.tar.gz
then extract the Installer *.deb file from that *.tar.gz file & run the Installer.
this was in MX-17, from memory, and would have been done last year, that is in 2018.

A notice for the future, if you remove the old LibO before upgrading
or installing a newer version, save a copy of the following:
- - - - -> ~/.config/libreoffice/4/user
Despite the "4", this contains all /user settings that you have currently applied,
as well as backup files, dictionaries, etal.
Best is just to install the new version and it will do that for you.
For example:
Versions 5.1.x or 5.2.x and Version 6.1.x will coexist;
however, Version 6.1.3 will overwrite 6.1.2 while still keeping your settings.
Another:
Versions 6.1.x or 6.2.x and Version 6.3.x will coexist;
however, Version 6.2.6 will overwrite 6.2.5 while still keeping your settings.
- - - - -> ~/.config/libreoffice/4/user
Note: after install and test, you can remove the older version.
But I keep a copy of my user settings, just in case. :)

Re: how to update the Libreoffice-pakets from 5xy to 6xy
I repeat: MX 18.3 ships with 6.0.1 in the main repo and installed, can be updated to 6.1.5 from the test repo, and can be updated to the current 6.3 through at least a couple of different methods, such as an AppImage.
