Why doe MX 17.1 boot so fast

#1 Post by jbander »

Antix was also a real fast booter, Do they boot in some order with most common usage first because it seems like if it had to boot up the whole Distro before it could be used , it would take a lot longer. This is larger then many Distros that take a hell of a lot more time to boot up.
Just wondering.

We use the tried and true sysvinit as default vs systemd, however boot times are quite similar if I switch from one to another, so there's not much to take home in that theory. Because we're based on antiX, we benefit from much of their development, and if I were to simplify the answer somewhat, it would be all summed up in a single statement, our pool of devs just engineer it better.

Thanks for the response , I had this big theory that through a persons most common order of usage of the apps. The Distro would then load them in that same order, so everyone would have their own boot up order after a few weeks of usage, saving time on boot up for each individual.. Your answer is better. Thanks.
