Let the developers concentrate on mx based on debian, and leave bsd for what it is.
If you want to use bsd, there are plenty of alternatives from the bsd world itself.
MX is a very good product in its current context, so leave it that way.
This is my humble opinion.

You could use the one that the FreeBSD developers use; Mac OS X (it is a BSD derivative).

How about https://www.trueos.org/?

FWIW, I find OpenBSD very easy to install and it offers the full GNOME desktop, which has GUIs for most configuration changes that may be required.

I'll give it a go....

Edit: I have to apologize.... I was premature (or maybe really out of date and prematurely rushed to judgment). :footinmouth: I just installed GhostBSD, it was very easy & installed nicely in VBox. Their xfce 4.12 setup is elegant and clean. I have downloaded OpenBSD and will give it a try later today.

Just for grins and giggles I think I'll try this BSD.

Trident is going to migrate to an alternate operating system. The article is here: https://project-trident.org/post/train_changes/

https://forums.freebsd.org/threads/free ... ent.72620/

It seems they are going for Void Linux. What about GhostBSD? Will they follow Trident?

Having now 'again' tested major BSD installs, I think it safe to say that of the major BSDs only GhostBSD is at all user friendly. The rest require more effort than mere mortals are likely to attempt/ succeed with.

Here is a Reddit thread (etc) that speaks volumes re: the viability of using BSD as a Desktop.
