amazing battery life on netbook

Here you can post about what you did to get MX to work right with your computer or if hardware worked right out of the box for you. This is for the computers and/or hardware that is normally hard to get working right in Linux or MX.

amazing battery life on netbook

Post by asqwerth » Wed Sep 07, 2016 11:21 am

I'm holidaying and visiting family at the moment in the UK but was expecting to have to contact the office and do some work, so I brought my father's Acer Aspire 1 netbook rather than my own much heavier and hotter laptop.

Funny thing is I'd installed MX14 for him on the netbook but never tested it out myself.

Well I can safely say that it works very well. Sure, the Atom CPU isn't the fastest and the RAM is only 1 GB, but I've had absolutely no problems with it and battery life is excellent, with Firefox (2 - 3 tabs), Libreoffice and pdf documents opened.

I worked a total of about 4.5 hours on it this morning and there was still about 20+% of battery life left. I had a break in between, for breakfast and the suspend function worked fine when I shut the lid.

Disclaimer: The Acer is fitted with a 3rd party larger battery because the original battery died. But still....

I updated to MX-15 on a similar machine (per signature below) but I think MX-14 was the 'sweet spot' in hindsight, and very efficient to use.
Lenovo ThinkCentre A58 4GBRAM (64-bit), MX17/MX-16/antiX17/Mint 19
