antiX-19-b3-full and base versions (64 and 32 bit) available

#1 Post by anticapitalista »

Our third beta build of the upcoming antiX-19 release, based on Debian Buster and systemd-free.

Main changes since beta2.

* 4.9.189 'swapgs mitigations' patched kernel
* qpdfview replaces evince
* A bit more polish added
* Various bugfixes.

Known issues (reported):

* sisimedia driver for SiS video cards do not work
* connman does not connect to sdio bluetooth controller (rtl8723bs) on Intel Compute Stick STCK1A8LFC
* The presence of /etc/asound.conf causes repeated second long gaps in HDMI sound.

Hopefully, users will be able to upgrade from this beta to full.

For a full list of what is on antiX-19, see this post: https://antixlinux.com/antix-19-b1-full ... available/

Quick question - I have 19-b2 installed. I did an apt upgrade today and got a lot of package upgrades that seemed to be in line with the 19-b3 announcement. However, I checked cat /etc/antix-version, and it still says 19-b2. Do I need to install the 19-b3 ISO over it to bring it up to 19-b3? Or are there other instructions for jumping from b2 to b3?

If I remember right, the version number stays with the one you originally installed, when you update.

Ok, makes sense, I should have thought of that. Thanks!

Choosing English Language and UK timezone and Fluxbox - all others I accept defaults

It gets to the following screen and just sits there. Left it for 15 mins - no change...

Hi

alt+F1 does the same as ctrl+alt+F1 and takes you to the photo screen above.

alt+F7 or ctrl+alt+F7 takes you back to the Antix splash screen for want of a better description

That gets me further - to a login promt root - root
try and install nvidia and dependency issues.

I think the problem is nouveau do not yet support RTX graphics cards - so I need a way of install them to get the live install going properly
