antiX-17.3 released

#1 Post by anticapitalista »

antiX-17.3 - Helen Keller - released

This is primarily a point-release upgrade of antiX-17.2 (Helen Keller) with a newer L1TF/Foreshadow and Meltdown/Spectre patched kernel, a few bugfixes, updated translations and some upgraded and new packages.
The major change is that we now offer options for LUKS encrypted root, home, and swap partition at installation.

More information here: https://antixlinux.com/antix-17-3-released-2

At the moment, iso files available from https://sourceforge.net/projects/antix- ... ntiX-17.3/

Note: There is no need to install this version of antiX-17 series if you are fully dist-upgraded.

Thanks to Adrian for uploading the iso files to SF.

Adrian,

Thank you for the upload.

AntiX support I need torrent files to start seeding...

17.3 not on DistroWatch Torrents
https://distrowatch.com/dwres.php?resou ... order=name

17.3 not on LinuxTracker
I find a 4+ gig file labeled: AntiX 17 3 Final ISO's Pack, but think I should be seeding a full 386 and 64 bit versions not a 4 gig file...

I do not know what to do with AntiX 17 3 Final ISO's Pack

anticapitalista,

Thank you I will always seed AntiX full when it is ready, as I have not gone over my ISP reduced data caps during 2018.

Seems my cable ISP is worried to many customers were cutting cable TV service since they are not broadcasting much 1080 nor planning to broadcast 4K, when 8k broadcasting content is already being delivered by cable TV companies in a few countries.

My ISP raised the price and reduced caps then added a $50 premium for the old caps to stop some of the complaints. But I was able to seed both MX and Antix this year only brushing up against the new lowered caps once...

Seeding Antix 17.3 from LinuxTracker

anticapitalista,

On the next upgrade release of Antix could you include a newer version of qBittorrent I am running V3.3.7 and seeing qBittorrent V4.1.5 being used to download MX-18 and AntiX 17.3.1 downloaders.

qBittorrent V3.3.7 is latest version offered in Package Installer - I am running antix 17.3.1 stable

qBittorrent V4.1.5 won't build on a stretch base so I'm afraid it won't be included (unless stevo can work some magic).
I'm also concerned that the later versions may require libs that might mess up other apps.

anticapitalista,

Have seeded 200 gigs of MX-18 and 123 gigs of Antix 17.3.1 and see a number of downloaders using the newer version, thought I would ask...

Lots of torrent programs are no longer recognised by 3.3.7 I get symbols instead of torrent program names and versions...

Still works, but am a bit concerned about security of 3.3.7 compared to 4.1.5...
Sunday September 11th 2016 - qBittorrent v3.3.7 WAS release

Thanks for rapid response...
