Thank you all for this thread. I've been using a cheapie Brother HL-2130 Laser, and its predecessor for a few years. Ever since I installed
MX14.4, the printer has been a problem. Print sometimes, next time it goes through the motions but ejects a blank page. Look at the
logs, they say job completed and printer connected, but there has been no usable output. Have wasted much time trying to get it to behave. Tomorrow will try again with this new info.

MX-18.2 64bit. Also MX17, Kubuntu14.04 & Puppy 6.3.

This is a very long command. From the Wiki it goes right off the page, off the edge of the screen and even with a right scroll
am not sure if I have all of it. Going now to compare the Wiki version with the original.

It would probably be better to have it as a small script in /usr/local/bin instead of as a .bashrc alias.

I support that, so hope somebody changes the new Wiki page accordingly.

I also suggested to Adrian that we consider collecting all the printer driver stuff under a single MX Tool: nvidia legacy, HP extras, Brother, etc.

I'll vote for that suggestion. Getting printers to behave consistently is the only real problem I have had with MX14
