Three easy steps.
1) Installation from Synaptic.
2) Make iBus ready to type Amharic
3) Start typing

1) Installation from Synaptic.
First install ibus-m17n, ibus-gtk and ibus-gtk3.
Important to install both ibus-gtk and ibus-gtk3 to type in Amharic on different applications or editors.
You can install fonts-sil-abyssinica if you want more font choices.

2) Make iBus ready to type Amharic:
Start iBus: Input Method > Add (see the picture bellow)
The little window for 3 and 4 opens after 2, to select sera(m17n) in a list of languages.
Sometimes you will have to press a vertical points … to see list of selectable languages

Terrific how-to!

In Step 1, can you add something about what "...and necessary package..." means?
Production: 5.10, MX-23 Xfce, AMD FX-4130 Quad-Core, GeForce GT 630/PCIe/SSE2, 16 GB, SSD 120 GB, Data 1TB
Personal: Lenovo X1 Carbon with MX-23 Fluxbox and Windows 10

Good idea! Thanks.
Edited from "1) Install iBus and necessary package from Synaptic." to "1) Installation from Synaptic."
Any idea about image link or upload situation?

I don't understand the question, since all your images appear in the post.

Yes they appear. The images are from external website link. I don't see it is possible to upload images to the forum from a user computer.
The forum is more available than external link. If something happens to the external link, the images will not show up?

If the images are not too large, then you can attach them using the "Attachments" tab just below the space where you write.

Oh, of course. Nice. They are between 40 and 120 kb which is OK. Will insert once I find out the proper image view in the post.
Thanks.
